Hot Wheels Wiki says - Eggshelleracer is a dragster made of a spoon and broken egg. It was named by Craig Callum, and is a play on AcceleRacers while the casting itself is a modified depiction of Rat-ified.

In 2025, an egg-themed car was assigned as a design project. Several designers, including Phil Riehlman, Matt Gabe and Ronald Wong, had proposed different concepts during the ideation phase. Bryan Zhao's initial concept centered on a life-sized egg mounted on four wheels. The idea of incorporating a spoon beneath the egg was introduced by Craig, inspired by the British game egg-and-spoon race. The exposed twin engine configuration, along with the use of an egg carton motif as the cylinder head detail, was proposed by Fraser Campbell. The consolidated key sketch originally featured a rear spoiler. However, it was ultimately removed due to its visual similarity to the Head Gasket and also obscured the spoon element. The rear was instead redesigned to include a pair of salt and pepper shakers, referencing the common Western practice of seasoning boiled eggs with these condiments. During production, only the spoon was initially planned as a metal component; Fraser later suggested that the eggshell body also be produced in metal, noting that metallic paint finishes offer a broader range of color options and a higher-quality surface appearance compared to plastic, and it would also help improve overall weight and balance. After discussion with the project manager, the model was ultimately produced with two metal components.

The casting features the same driver figure used in the Birthday Burner, Donut Drifter and Instant Boost for maintaining visual consistency within the "foodie" cars lineup, which was also proposed by Craig.
