From Hot Wheels Wiki: The Mercedes-Benz W124 is the fifth generation of the vehicle which would ultimately become the E-Class. Designed by Joseph Gallitzendörfer, Peter Pfeiffer and Bruno Sacco and noted for its good reliability, the W124 was produced from 1985 to 1996, with 2,562,143 produced.

The E 36 AMG is a high-performance version of the W124 produced by AMG in the time before it was acquired by Mercedes-Benz as a subsidiary. Produced for the Japanese and European markets, the E 36 AMG uses an M104 inline-6 producing 272 BHP, mated to a 4-speed manual; it also featured some minor aesthetic modifications and lowered stance. The car was available in sedan, station wagon, coupe and convertible formats; a small number were also produced by Daimler after its acquisition of Daimler. With only 171 produced, the E 36 AMG Wagon is one of the rarest AMGs produced.

The base of the initial release reads Mercedes-Benz AMG E36 Estate Custom. This casting initially featured slightly odd door lines as they end about halfway where they are usually supposed to end, which according to designer Mark Jones was an error caused by the manufacturing department. Ronald Wong would modify this casting to add the doorlines in 2024.
