Hot Wheels 2006 - Classics Series 2 # 05/30 - 1958 Corvette - Spectraflame Green - White Lettered Goodyear Tires on 5 Spokes - Opening Hood - Metal/Metal - Limited Edition - MPN J2761

From Mattel: "Series 2 Classics are here! We've taken more of the best known Hot Wheels designs, muscle cars and hot rods which celebrate 30 of the most collectible Hot Wheels over the last 38 years! Just like Series 1, all of the cars will feature Spectraflame colors! In Series 2, look for some new twists on old favorites such as making hardtops into convertibles and even 2 brand new models that will debutin the line! All the cars have die-cast bodies and chassis, and will come in a variety of Spectraflame candy colors throughout the year. Try to collect them all!"

Hot Wheels Wiki says - Hot Wheels Classics is an annual line of Hot Wheels cars first released in 2005. They are marketed towards adult collectors and were originally priced around $3.99 (USD). Each car features a metal base and is released in several different Spectraflame colors. Series 1 was released in 2005, series 2 in 2006, series 3 in 2007, series 4 in 2008, and series 5 in 2009.

In 2008 First to the Market was the Vintage Classics with Collector's Button in celebration of 40 years of Hot Wheels.

The '58 Corvette Coupe is a Hot Wheels casting based on the GM production car and was recreated in 1/64 scale by Hot Wheels designer Larry Wood. Despite the name of the casting, the '58 Corvette Coupe name is not accurate as the Corvette was never available in coupe form until 1963; a removable hard top could however be ordered. Larry created two versions for collectors, one version has a blown engine and the second version has an opening hood. However; the metallic purple painted casting introduced in 1995 and distributed in 1996 and 1997 as well - did not come in a closed hood (none blown engine) version.

The casting features the same toy number as the Packin' Pacer, 2015; this is also in the vein where both the Thunderbird Stocker and '90 T-Bird also feature the same toy number.
