2005 and Mattel continued with the
same type Collector Numbering system
as since 2000 and it is working great!
Everyone seems to like it now that it
has been going for 5 years.
But, in 2005 Mattel released only 187
vehicles in the Mainline.
- First Editions had 50 vehicles. And
the Sub-Series within the First
Editions showed up again! There were
Realistix, Drop Tops, Blings, Torpedoes,
and X-Raycers, vehicles within the First
Editions. The Ford Shelby Cobra
Concept, 1969 Pontiac Firebird T/A,
Cockney Cab II, 'Willys Coupe and
Poison Arrow were among the hot ones
to get.
- Track Aces becomes a solid 10 Vehicle
Sub-Series.
- Sub-Series had 10 series with 5
vehicles each. Rebel Rides, Red Lines &
Muscle Mania were very hot.
- Treasure Hunts had 12 vehicles and
celebrates its 10th Anniversary. The
1967 Camaro & Mini Cooper was very
demanding to get.
- Re-Paints were spread out over
Collector Numbers 134 to 183.
- 5 Mail-In Vehicles were very sought
after as one was the 13th Treasure
Hunt VW Drag Bus!
- Also we saw the "FASTER THAN
EVER" Vehicles make their debut.
